Man-Sized Makeover
Time was of the essence when real estate agent David, decided to sell his two-storey beachside home. He was ready to move and wanted to list his home on the market straight away – but the home wasn’t yet market-ready.
David, and his 21-year-old son Matt, had the house pretty well divided in two. David lived upstairs in the more formal lounge, dining, kitchen, master bedroom and outdoor dining areas whilst Matt and friends enjoyed a casual beach lifestyle downstairs.
Dave saw Tracey from Showhomes at a Gold Coast Property Group meeting on the Wednesday night and by Friday morning at 10am, Showhomes was onsite.
Initial Consultation
Friday: 10am
The Initial Consultation reveals a great base for styling, but there’s a lot to do before the One Day Makeover. David set a deadline for the following Saturday at 11am for photos. David and Tracey discuss ideas for the makeover and start the restyling process.
Tracey describes the home as a ‘Man Cave’, perfectly set up for the current living needs with practical, sturdy furniture and simple furnishings. Having been recently painted, lights dangled from the ceilings and few of the windows had coverings.
Living Upstairs Before
Dave plans to show the home before the final makeover so simple changes are made to lighten and brighten the room while appropriate furniture and furnishings are being sourced.
Upstairs Lounge after Initial Consultation
David reveals that he has furniture and furnishings in storage and the garage reveals a store of beach-style art. These are used in the final transformation.
Upstairs Lounge after Makeover
Cleaning of all rooms, windows, furniture and furnishings is essential to showcase the home-for-sale at it’s best. The main windows are measured for curtains.
Upstairs Dining Before
Heavier furniture items are removed from the upstairs lounge and dining areas during the Initial Consultation.
Dining Room after Initial Consultation
David and Tracey determine which items are needed for the makeover from his stores and which are to be supplied by Showhomes. The items are chosen that will best show off the property’s features.
Formal Dining After Makeover
So much needs to be done before the One Day Makeover including moving furniture, cleaning rooms and windows, fixing lights, covering windows, affixing artworks, painting and decluttering the garage, and gardening.
Ideally, all will be completed before the interior decorating by Showhomes.
One Day Makeover
Deadline: Saturday week 11am
David gives himself and the team a week to be photo ready. Matt and his mates take over the gardening and external areas as Dave directs a raft of tradespeople. The Showhomes team prepares the interior of the home to be photo-ready by Saturday morning.
